Welcome to iRacine.com. Our intention is this site will always be owned and controlled by people living right here in Racine, Wisconsin. While we do not discourage people from other areas to join up as members, we expect most of the input into our pages to be generated by citizens of Racine.
What is iRacine.com and what does it mean to me?
Our goal is to make iRacine.com a social networking portal, not unlike Facebook. However, we offer specific advantages over sites like Facebook because we are LOCAL. One advantage is we can customize the network based on feedback from YOU. At the same time we will have the option for you to sync your Facebook and/or Twitter accounts into the iRacine.com platform.
One of our biggest components, aside from connecting with your Racine friends and family, is our business directory. The hope is to deliver the most comprehensive business directory for all of Racine County. Furthermore, members of iRacine.com will be able to rate businesses and find out information about businesses with relative ease. Business owners will have the opportunity to fine tune their listing and interact with members who rated their business low on the rating scale, make things right with their customers. In future versions of iRacine.com we will be providing detailed events calendars, which we hope to sync with all Racine-based or "doing business in Racine" organizations. We have noticed, as have others, how difficult it is to get a one-stop shop for finding out what to do in Racine. We want to simplify this process for Racinites (and Racinians). Directory and Forum managers in Racine County, we want to partner with you. Together we can build the ultimate resource for Racine County citizens.
In addition, we want to hear from YOU. The only way we can improve this site is to get suggestions and recommendations from the people who visit iRacine.com. We want you to feel compelled to bookmark this page, even have it act as your homepage when opening your web browser. This is important to us, so please do not hesitate to contact us with your thoughts.
Lastly, we are conducting interviews with families and individuals here in Racine to talk about what Racine means to them. These are intended to be "feel good" stories about life in Racine, not your set of everyday news articles. We are not the Journal Times and we are not affiliated with the newspaper. These articles are currently planned on a monthly basis. We want to encourage a "feel good" atmosphere across the whole site. This is so important to us we are providing a disclaimer link to all members and guests, so you can understand how we plan on treating negative interactions on iRacine.com. For example those of you participating in our social network, you will need to provide parental consent between the ages of 13 to 17. This means parents have read, understand and send in to us a signed copy of the disclaimer under our social networking platform. Furthermore, all Racinites ages 13 to 17 will have their social networking profile automatically set to "Private" so only friends and family can peruse their pages. This is not optional.
